Changes in the Park?

What happened to the barbeque grills next to the picnic house? When were they removed?

And what happened to the horse ring off of 15th St? the fences are gone, and they don't usually take them down in the winter.

Horse rails went a while back. Not sure why.

The grills by the picnic house slowly left as people broke them.

Also looks like the dumpsters are gone, I guess for the season. Park will still be a mess Mondays if we have nice weekend weather in the fall.

It was pretty nasty this morning.

I read somewhere that the dumpsters were a limited time experiment to see if they helped. I think they did, but there were not nearly enough.

I'm pretty sure I saw dumpsters tonight. Maybe there are fewer now.

Um, I just did a google search trying to find out the dumpster situation and found pictures I took of the big trash incident posted on multiple news sites and blogs, no link back or credit given! Bastards! (My pictures is not licensed as a freebie).

horse ring is maintained by kensington stables. The owner there was restoring the ring, but it seems to have fallen by the wayside. Lessons seem to be sprouting up in a haphazard location down by the parade grounds (but in the park.)

those horses freak me out. i was in the park last summer when two (!) horses went galloping by w.out riders, bridles dragging on the ground. dangerous for many reasons.

called 911 and it took forever for them to believe me.

I had a picnic near the Picnic House today. I asked some of the Park Staff about the grills. They said that they were vandalized and never replaced.

On the bright side they have a closet full of abandoned grills they will lend out.
