Washington/Eastern Parkway Intersection

It is my understanding that the installation of walk signals at this intersection may happen when the median project is completed. In the meantime, today it continues to be a very dangerous intersection for pedestrians.

Car accidents don't simply happen here regularly because drivers aren't paying attention, but because it is difficult to see when there is traffic & they don't realize that they need to yield to the crosswalks. Today we were crossing at the walk and a car that could not see us sped up right in front of our path--neither party could see each other. We need walk signs--this is a major intersection!

It is adjacent to numerous schools. At the very least, we should have a crossing guard at school time.

So please write Tish James again, call 311, the DOT, etc. If all that fails I may organize an act of civil disobedience.

    According to the Brooklyn DOT office they have a citizen request for review of the location on file, but nothing has happened yet. So clearly they could use a little prodding. Here is contact info at the DOT & for Letitia James if you want to write:
