From the CCGH newsgroup:
Greetings all,

Jeremy Laufer, our Dist. Mgr at CB7, gave me a call in reg's to the liquor license for the nightclub La Norteña at 758 5th Ave (at 26th St.) is up for renewal.

Two years ago there was quite a bit of issue with the nightclub...loud music, drunk & disorderly, fights, prostitution, etc...

the Board held a public hearing on the matter and quite a few folks came out.

The CB has not received any complaints, but wanted to check if there were still any issues. If so, they will hold a public hearing again.

Please let me know.
Anyone on the boards have any issues?

Isn't La Nortena where there was a shooting (or knifing) death about six years ago?

Doesn't matter anyway. Lots of people came out when Tacos 2004 was re-applying, the CB voted to not recommend, and they still got it (or at least they're still serving). Now they've had another murder involving patrons leaving their establishment. (At least I think it was Tacos 2004 on Sunday AM).

Is it worth it to try to get the license revoked now? Will we see the owner looking oh-so-sorry-and-ignorant-about-his-restaurant again? Any more promises?

Sorry, I'm just pissed about the place. Some good food, though, according to Chowhound. I wouldn't set food in the place.

Yep, that was a real let down...but the CB is only advisory.

Bring it up to the Dist. mgr and they may be able to bring it up to the Liquor board again.

I've lived a few doors down from La Nortena for three years, and haven't really seen any huge problems. Always some drunks wandering down the street around closing time, but usually fairly quiet. Some broken bottles around, but that's to be expected for this neighborhood. Surprisingly low-key, actually.
