The Pratt Coffee Shop on St. James Place seems to have permanently closed.

I thought it was simply closed for a summer vacation by it looks like they've shuttered the doors for good.

Does anyone have any information on its closing?

just like many other places in the hood, signs up that say "on vacation" or "closed for renovation" usually means they have gone out of business unfortunately. i don't expect that partt coffee shop will ever open again. been frequenting Mike's since Pratt closed and much prefer them anyhow.

My friend and I were toying with the idea of taking over that space, renovating and reopening with almost no changes to the menu whatsoever. For me it was more of a pipe dream ( I have no restaurant experience whatsoever) but he kinda took the ball and ran with it. Through searching public records he tracked down the owners and they confirmed that they were indeed doing renos and were waiting for final drawings, paperwork and permits.

WHY one would cease operations to await permits is beyond me and makes me question the veracity of the report, but I'm just the messenger.

I wish they'd reopen; I always preferred them to Mike's, although I'll concede that the place was an ungodly dump and in dire need of a little cosmetic attention.
