Subject: how to solve a neighbor's inconsiderateness w/out provoking?

I live on a wide, echo-y street and have a bit of a problem. A kid from across the street regularly skateboards outside his family's brownstone, doing the same move over and over for hours--sometimes late into the night--that causes the same echoing thwack until i want to tear my hair out. It is incredibly annoying, he sometimes accidentally sets off car alarms, causes dogs in apartments to yap, etc...i just know if i ever politely asked him to stop at sundown (at the very least) his yuppie parents would probably run me out of the neighborhood. on the other hand, he's probably a nice kid. it's a mystery that this kid or his parents wouldn't say to themselves, gee, i wonder if i'm bothering anyone? Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

You need to get the dog owners from Bensonhurst to walk their dogs in front of their house.

my white noise machine on HIGH does little to drown out my psycho upstairs neighbor.

    talk to the parents

Ugh. I used to have a kid upstairs who did that outside.

Thunk. Thunk. Thunk. hours on end.

Are you friendly with them? You could try speaking to the parents, at least as af irst step.

It will be too cold outside soon. If you've dealt with it thus far, I'd leave well enough alone.

I've always tried to nicely have conversations but always get the we lived here first argument.

So two things I did that worked.

For the neighbor whose daughter had screaming Gerry Springer tearing hear fights 3 days a week with some girlfriend of some guy. I very nicely asked her mother if she had an undiagnosed mental problem and needed a social worker reference to get her help. Next day she was forever after in the house.

For the neighbor who always has some fight drama, friends who show up with 12 pitbull pups and play fight them and have friends calling up to their window at all hours of the night - I started filming them with my cell phone and camera. Totally stopped the drama but I had to get cursed out a few times. Now they see me they leave or cross the street. And I have a lot of footage to take to the community liason officer if it starts up again.

    Be creative.
