Found in Crown Heights Lost Russian Blue Cat

I found a loving extremely friendly Russian Blue male cat in my backyard 10/08/09. I put signs up around neighborhood but no one has responded. He seems to be about 1 year old. I have posted pictures to www.flickr.com/groups/fuzzyfriends as well as www.flickr.com/groups/lookingforahome. He is really sweet, vocal, relaxed and would make a great family pet and/or fit in with other pets. Please contact me through pm below. Thanks. He says "rrrraaahhhhh?"

BrooklynKatz - have you taken him to a local vet to see if he's microchipped? They will scan him for free and you might get lucky.

I have not taken him to a vet yet. Unfortunately the microchipping is a long shot but worth the try. He does have soft fur. I am not very techno savy but the second link should work http://www.flickr.com/groups/lookingforahome/

Many shelters are now microchipping as part of the adoptions process. It's worth a shot. Both of my cats are chipped (one was done at the shelter, and the other I had done at the vet).

Finger's crossed! I was just being the nutcase I am about animals and looking at the lost pets section of CL while we paused the dvd to wait for dinner and that ad looked familiar. I hope there's a happy reunion soon!

Good eye! Ali's been missing for over a month!

I found a cat once and realized I had seen a sign in a 7-11. It was the right cat...it had been missing for FOUR months and had crossed a 6 lane highway to come cry her head off under my car. Daisy's owner never gave up hope.

Update: Kitty has been picked up from Brooklyn Katz's house and it looks pretty good that it's a match. Kitty traveled far (across Eastern Parkway ) and was missing for a month, so girl wants to take kitty home to have her dad double-check and see how the cat acts at home but she's pretty sure that the cat is her missing Ali.

Ali (and his owners) are lucky you (Brooklyn Katz) took him in and kept him for so long. Many folks can't do that or don't want to.

Hi, this is Ali's owner. I just want to say thank you to everyone for their help in reuniting us together. Ali is happy and I am happy. I am definitely going to get him a collar or even better mirochipped. Who knows the odds of me finding him again if he decides to wonders off. Thank you Brooklyn Katz for taking care of him. I was devasted because he was out on the street with no food or shelter. Fortunately, that turned out not to be the case. Also thank you to OpossumQueen who went searching on craigslist and FliexiChick who contacted me. Keep up the good work everyone.

I was wondering last night as I was going to sleep how Ali could have gotten so far. I think he crossed Eastern Parkway at night when it wasn't so busy and began wandering down Bedford Ave. looking in the shop windows and saying hello to everyone. People thought he was cute so they pet him and he followed after them looking for more affection and looking in more shop windows. Then he got hungry and went sniffing and looking into garbage like the street cats do so that meant he needed to go into the neighborhood and somehow got onto Park Place. He kept walking down Park Place looking for food and getting a bit here and there (he moved about a block a day) when he came upon Brower Park and decided to sun himself. He watched a basketball game and the kids playing in the playground. He thought that was fun. Then he got hungry again. An old wise street cat who lived in the park told him to look for food on the next block. Other street cats told him that a kind old lady used to feed them in a backyard on Prospect Place. They told him to get there he had to go into my neighbor's driveway which leads into out into our backyards and her backyard. But the kind old lady had moved away. The backyards were beautiful and offered shelter under so many bushes so he began looking around and came into my yard.... "And now you know the rest of the story."

I wish cats could tell their story. Ali must have had quiet an adventure. I bet there were a few scary parts when he thought "rut roh, what have I done?" Any time my cats try to make a run for it I give them the lecture about the big, bad world out there and how there isn't any fancy feast or nice kitty beds.

If that is this kitty, you should email Bob to let him know the happy end. I know several folks on that mailing list that love to see the happy outcomes of lost/found pets and check the site to find happy reunions.

collars can be dangerous for cats but microchipping seems to be fine! congrats on getting him back! how did he get away?
