Massage

I need a cheap massage, the kind where you sit in a backwards chair thing and someone with ridiculously strong hands massages you, clothes on, for about 20 minutes. Where in Park Slope, preferably on 5th near President Street.

I go to the place on 7th Ave and Windsor. Love them. I only have done an hour, but I am sure you can do it for less.

I think you mean the Body Work place on 7th and 16th? I haven't been because it looks so shady from the outside, but my roommate, who is a dancer, has been in multiple times and recommends it highly.

It could be 16th instead of Windsor.......the place with the TVs in the window and it looks shady from the outside for sure, but I have been there 8 times and no bad experiences at all. For $55/hr, it's one of my favorite indulgences

Yep. They have like sheets in the windows and christmas lights but if you peek in the door the "rooms" look pretty peaceful and it's like $1 a minute or $55 /hr like you say. I am just skerred. There's not Enya playing, no wine or tea before and after. I am willing to pay extra for these things. A big fluffy robe, some nice music and a big man.......

I always heard that if a massage place has TVs in the window its code that means they do more then just "massage".

Having been there many times, I have never seen anything shady going on. The walls between the rooms are thin and I haven't heard any....ahem...noises....to indicate anything other than true massage

People, seriously, if you peek into one of these "shady" looking massage joints and its a middle aged or frumpily/comfortably dressed Asian man or woman, wearing sweats, maybe flip-flops, all you're getting is a massage. Unless you're into who I've just described, I would expect you really wouldn't want anything "extra".

If you peek in and there's a group of young women, heavily made-up, scantily dressed, and you're encouraged to pick your "masseuse" its a happy-ending joint.

Actually 95% of the time you won't be able to peek in, you'll be buzzed in, after you're checked out on their cctv. A house of prostitution, you know an illegal establishment, is not going to be on 7th Ave in Park Slope, with doors unlocked and wide-open so that any yahoo can just blunder in and find people in the act of committing misc. misdemeanors and felonies.

Some of y'all have got vivid imaginations.

What's disappointing is that the 16th St place, to which I've been, is $55 an hr. That's actually fairly steep. There are many places in Manhattan for about $45 and there's a 24hr joint on 6th and Ave A that's $40 an hr. I'd be there once a week if I lived nearby.

The place on 7th/16th is running a special until the end of the year - 60 minutes for $50 (normally $55)

The salon on 5th between 6/7th (I think) near Coco Roco and Mezcal's has the kind of massage chair the OP mentioned. I don't know how good it is there, but they've got it.

Any nail place has those seated massages in chairs. They usually charge $10 for 10 minutes, but you can do 20. A lot of times they're surprisingly good. The newish nail place on 5th between President and Carroll (next to Bageltique) actually gives a great chair massage! The space is a little awkward, but it still gets the job done.
