Car Service for Longer Trips

I know there are multiple discussions on local car services, but I was wondering what service offers the best rates for trips outside of the city. Current Wife and I have to go up to Palisades, NY this Saturday. I usually take Eastern for quick trips, but what about longer trips? I'd rather not deal with a car rental.

Thanks,
-anthony

Yeah, she doesn't like her title for some reason, but Current Wife just made sense after calling her Future Wife for all those months. I don't understand what she's so upset about. Weird.

I'd try calling a taxi there and seeing how much it would cost to pick you up. Didi you ask Eastern how much the trip would be both there and the return?

Could you take the train? Metro North

I believe Eastern was around $90 each way. The train idea was shot down already by the other passenger.

Their veto power is staggering, isn't it.

Can't you rent a car for less than that? And you won't have a stupid smelly car deodorizer to deal with (those things should be banned!)

Drinking will likely be involved, so I will be unable to drive (no matter how much I insist otherwise at the time).

    Crap... $200... at least.

Seriously -- round-trip from Grand Central to Tarrytown on MetroNorth is $16.50 each (off-peak) and then it's a quick cab ride across the Tappan Zee bridge back down to Palisades.

But then again -- it's only 45 mins away.

Have you looked into renting a limo? You can get a stretch Hummer with bat wing doors, plasma TVs... shit the bitches will be drooling over... for like $3,000 for 10 hours!

OK Your millage might vary. I called IBM Palisades and they gave me the number of 2 car services up there

    845 353 9888 quoted $145 toll+tax+gratuity included
845 353 1144 quoted $120 toll+tax (then he said hold on I'll see if I can get you a better price and came back with $120 toll+tax+gratuity all included)

That's one way by the way. easier for you 'cause they are already there when you want to come home.

Of course these are car services recommended by a swanky hotel so you might get it still cheaper from a regular taxi

Thanks for all the info, everyone. Yeah, I'm pretty resigned that this is going to cost around $200. Thankfully, dinner/booze is taken care of once we get there, which helps a bit.

How about taking Town Car or one of the better car services. That way you have a decent smelling car, fairly comfortable and professional. Of course, make sure they have a GPS and know the area.

fyi, there is no train to go there. so even though your current wife has said she will not take one, it isn't an option.

there are buses, it's pretty close. it's also a really, really great town, aka sneeden's landing
