Although I've been a number of times I don't think I've ever gone at what would be considered a "peak" time.

So, what are the odds of 4-6 people getting a table at 8pm on friday night?
How long of a wait should we expect.

Grazie

it depends. if you want to sit in the main dining room facing 5th, it could be an hour, but could be less if you want to sit in the side room. i recommend waiting for the front room, as the energy of that space is really nice.

there are a couple bars within a block to have a drink while you wait. but you probably already know that.

I actually liked the "wine room" of al di la more. First there's a lesser wait time, but the main draw was the seating is not squished together. I don't have to sit, literally, inches between a perfect stranger that hears my full conversation and vice versa.

But yeah, the main room at that time will take an hours wait.

love the wine room! once we stayed there and skipped dinner altogether! the owners are just tremendously nice, even when dealing with the impatient, the infirm, the foodies, their picky children...how does he do it?

Yep. Wine room is better. When you sit in the main room, they have to pull the table out if you want to go to the bathroom.....and then you have to basically squeeze through with your ass in somebody's face to get out....not to mention there is no way not to hear everybody's convo or have them listen to yours.
