Hi-

My friend and I are looking at a place very close to the Halsey L. I haven't seen it yet, but she saw the neighborhood and said it was ok-looking. I'll be seeing it tomorrow.

Can anyone tell me what their opinion of that area is? Especially young women...I'm worried about safety late at night, because I'm sure I'll be coming home alone at some point (I work late...sometimes get home from work as late as 1). .Has anyone felt very threatened in the area? Is the station just sketch?

Let me know...thanks people!

If your apartment is near Wyckoff Avenue, then you'd probably be OK, though coming home that late would warrant some vigilance. Otherwise, the immediate area south of Wyckoff is semi-industrial and might feel deserted, especially at night. I used to get off at the Halsey Station years ago for work-related reasons and it, too, can feel deserted. Check it out when you visit and assess your comfort level, but I'd recommend looking elsewhere if your budget allows it.

The area has few amenities, but I'm pretty sure that Silent Barn, a music venue (in someone's apartment, from what I've read) is nearby.
