Never done this before as I usually go upstate to Mom's but she's being a bitch this year so we're staying local. Any suggestions in the Heights or Slope or Smith Street area or BillyBurg?

I have had really good luck eating out on Thanksgiving. I get enough food and they don't throw in to many twists so that you can get the basics. The Village Voice has holiday ads from a bunch of good places. I saw that Sardi's had TGD for about 50 bucks. If that's too high there are others in the food section. Even if you think the place does not normally take reservations they may for Thanksgiving.

My sister in law works at Eamonn's in Brooklyn Heights, and I know they're serving Thanksgiving dinners on Thanksgiving day.

I just read that Ici in Fort Greene is doing a Prix Fixe.

7th Ave Donuts had a sign that they are doing a classic turkey day meal.

James is doing a 4 course Prix Fixe for $75 plus optional wine pairings with three seating times (2:30, 5:00, and 8:00). Each course has 5 options to choose from and include 4 items in each category that don't appear on the regular menu. Reservations are required and things are filling up fast.

Just walked by Deniz this morning on the way to work, they have a sign up saying they're open on Thankgiving. The statue of General Foster (?) across the street has a lovely halo of xmas lights too.

sort of off topic but related... anyone know if any of the bars in the nabe will be open thanksgiving eve? my family gluttony involves small children, so we'll be starting / ending pretty early. wondering if there will be anywhere open to hang later on...?
