Does anyone in PS use Verizon DSL? Any comparison to Road Runner? I'm considering making the switch.

Subject: Verizon - nah. Go with cable for now.

    DSL - Not yet.
Too labor-intensive. Fragile. Fidgety. Slow. I know too many people who have their residential service, and it seems that they are on the horn to Verizon daily or have a virtual Verizon tech in residence.
Those little copper lines are fragile. VZ may have fiber optics on the pole, but it's copper that brings it into your home.
Broadband through a cable company (and its generally weather-protected coaxial cable, still copper but a larger pipeline) can be done on a stand-alone basis.
If you're in the Slope, you probably have Time Warner as your cable company. They do offer Road Runner and other broadband services (EarthLink for example) to non-cable subscribers.
If you're in PH, it's Cablevision, and they do offer Optimum online as a stand-alone.
And if anyone tells you different, they're just trying to sell you cable tv service. Each component of modern-day cable service (cable tv, phone, internet) can be sold seperately or in packages.
In the next decade, Verizon will use its local fiber-optic network to compete in cable tv with TW and Cablevision here in NYC. They've already started on Long Island and in Texas.
Then we'll all have choice, and hopefully price wars.

We have verizon DSL and are satisfied, it's about the same speed as work or maybe a little slower. We use Skype and Skype out alot, and stream internet radio stations through our Roku and don't have a problem. Downloading music through Magnamusic.com is pretty quick and our shopping trips at Freshdirect are likewise brisk. We've never had cable so we can't compare though I think cable is probably much faster. I guess it depends on how fast a connection you need. For our purposes Verizon is ok for the price. Hope this helps.

I had Verizon DSL and I just switched and got that Cablevision Triple Play Deal and I am MUCH happier since I changed.

Verizon would over charge me (twice a month) even when the services were not working due to their error.

We have had Verizon DSL for almost 4 years now and have no troubles-I can count on one hand the number of times I have had to call Verizon in those 4 years. And, I have never had cable-so, can't compare the speed-but, this is plenty quick enough for us.

Also-you all do know that there are different speeds of DSL that you can get-right? The 19.99 DSL deal is not the same speed as the 34.99 deal-etc.. We pay more per month to have the fast speed DSL-maybe that is the problem some other people who say DSL is slow are having-they might need to upgrade their speed.

I had Verizon DSL for a year - it wasn't bad but at the time I was unable to use a wireless router so only one person at a time could be on line. We switched to Optimum Online and I like it much better it seems to be faster plus the customer service/tech support is much more knowledgable.
