By popular demand, Lily & Fig Bakery on Franklin is now featuring bread on weekends in addition to their delicious pastries--head over now for some delicious seeded Pain au Levain...(disclaimer--I made it!).

All comments and suggestions are welcomed by Lily and by me--tell us what you'd like to see!

    Do you guys make brioche?

The last two weeks we've been doing rich challah on Fridays, leaner breads as the weekend progresses. No large brioches, but we often have an almond filled brioche by the piece.

I'm cooking coq au vin for Thanksgiving and I'm going to need some lovely, crusty french baguettes. I'm assuming you have? What will your hours be this Wednesday and are you open on Thanksgiving?

Yes, I second that: I need some baguettes for Thanksgiving. Will you be making and will you be open?

...no baguettes yet...the bakery is open today, but the bread is (for now) just a weekend thing. But good to know that's what you need!

We'll eat fresh bread nearly every night if it's available nearby :)

Do you ever have vegan baked goods?

Good luck waiting for them to respond! I emailed them directly about my 'baguette for Thanksgiving' request and she took well over a week to get back to me. With apologies, but still.

Hi all, sorry for slow replies--I'm not Lily, and she doesn't use this board. All questions unrelated to bread at Lily & Fig should be sent directly to the bakery email, [email hidden].

Re: vegan treats, as far as I know, Lily & Fig has no vegan sweets at this time--about half of the bread is vegan, and I'd be happy to detail which.

As of now, we have had Challah, Oatmeal Sunflower Seed (neither vegan), and Pain au Levain with various additions and Pane Genzanese (rustic Italian bread), both of which contain only water, salt, flour, and sometimes a tiny bit of yeast. Some are yeast free, and made from a self-renewing sourdough culture.

The bread is always gone by the time I get there.... I wish there was an alert that I can get when it's there.
