Where to donate clothes and household items

Does anyone know where we can donate clothes and household items in or near Prospect Heights? I would like to clean out some older used things before the holidays roll around. We have clothes and lightly used pots, pans and plates. I would prefer to donate them rather then just throw them away. A Salvation Army or something similar would be ideal. Thank you.

Try CHIPS. They are a Soup Kitchen on 4th Avenue between Sackett and Degraw in Park Slope. Not only might they be able to use your kitchen items, but they also offer clothing to the homeless people that they serve. It is a great organization and they are really in need. This link might be of interest to you.

Not so close, but I know they'll take everything (and it's a good cause) - Housing Works, 122 Montague St in Bklyn Heights.

Housing Works WILL NOT take everything. I tried dropping stuff off there on Sunday and it turns out they are extremely picky about what they take. For example, they don't take anything that is plastic. They only take books if they are in new condition. The list goes on. Good cause or not, they are not an easy drop-off.

you can take clothes to the farmer's market at Grand Army Plaza. There is a truck there every Saturday that takes clothing donations. I think they go to the Goodwill.

The church on 7th ave/St Johns runs a thrift shop on Saturdays. They accept donations on that day as well. Look for a sign (small) on the door along the 7th ave side of the church

    Subject: Goodwill

I've donated at Housingworks in Brooklyn Heights, although it's a bit of a hike.

My favorite spot to donate is the Goodwill, down in the Fulton Mall area:

It's super easy to reach from the 2/3 at Nevins, B/Q at Dekalb, or the A/C at Hoyt-Schermerhorn. Aaaand they take lots of stuff and are open Saturdays and Sundays (great for weekend cleanouts!).

There's a Goodwill right next to the C and S on Fulton near Franklin Avenue as well.
