Restaurants open for Christmas dinner

The in-laws are trekking into Brooklyn for Christmas and since we made a turkey for Thanksgiving, we're taking the easy way out and dining out for Christmas dinner. Does anyone know what restaurants are open?

A couple of holidays ago we ate at Magnolia on Christmas Day; they had a good menu and it was tasty but just wondering who else might be open for a nice late afternoon dinner. Anybody seen any notices? Thanks.

I think I read that James is opening on Christmas day. It's in Prospect Heights. Are you only looking in Park Slope?

River Cafe in DUMBO is open and prefix is 3 course for $125 I think... it's sooo good and if you're looking for something fancy (jackets required for men) it'd be great for out of towners.

I'm open to any areas...parking is not usually a problem so I can drive somewhere if it's cold.

Le P'tit Paris on PPW and 10th Ave has a sign in their window about Christmas dinner. I have only been there once - I thought it was "meh", but other people have had decent meals there.

Anyone been out and seen any places open (and I mean any)? We tried to go out last night but it was a failure so we might try again tonight to get a break from cookies and other junk food :)

I'm pretty sure I saw some of the thai places open, but what about any Mexican or maybe the new Indian place?

I heard in the Indian thread that it did look like it was open for tonight. I'd call (also baluchis and Kinara).
As far as Mexican, the only ones I'd call and check on are La Taqueria/Rachels or Tacos Nuevo Mexico. I have a feeling they'd be closed though.

I ended up going to Queens...Riverview restaurant in Long Island City. It was nice; beautiful views and the food was decent and reasonable. Very friendly service.

We ventured out on Christmas eve and had a terrible meal. This place is not in PS but I am gonna mention it, if not fully review it.

A while back a thread got derailed and led to good corned beef and pastrami.

Well we tried the "new location of Essex on Coney, which is now on avenue M between Ocean Ave and e.19th (which was the Caravelle Diner for decades). Yeah sounded like a great idea for 5 Jews and one Irish Catholic (lapsed) to venture out for Corn Beef on Christmas Eve..Nope

Won't bother with a whole review but if anyone wants to know... ask..
For now warning is to file this one and if the name comes up when friend suggests deli in Brooklyn.....just say no.

Yeah, Essex on Coney is awful, IMO. Since their move to the location on Avenue M, blech!

Balaka was open (as was Magnolia, which was packed) and we went there. Two other tables were taken while we were there. Guess I'll give my thoughts in the thread on that restaurant.

we did Sunset Park Chinese--a place called Asia Park--looks like a converted Greek diner. Good, reasonably priced, cheery.
