Anyone know where I can buy a Tofurkey locally? I'm at the very north end of Park Slope. I'd like to avoid a trip to Whole foods on Union Square if i can!
Thanks

Fairway has them; it's where I got this year's Tofurkey. I've also seen them at Key Foods on 7th Ave, but only before Thanksgiving (well, that was the only time I've looked for them... and it was several years ago).

I saw them at the key foods on 5th, but I think that was around Thanksgiving? I'd give them a call. There's also Pathmark at the Atlantic Center, they're huge so I bet they have it.

I almost hit one driving to the ex's house in upstate NY over Thanksgiving.

imageI don't know where he got the plate.

Back to the Land on 7th Ave might have them, or Perelandra's on Remsen Street downtown.

Do other vegetarians like these? I've always wondered. I've been veg for about 12 years and am kind of turned off by the thought of them. I always imagined their largest market is the meat-eating Thanksgiving/Xmas dinner host who learns that a vegetarian is coming over.

Granted, I've never had one...largely because I've transitioned past the stage where I want my tofu to resemble meat. So yeah - just wondering how good/bad they are, should my nightmare come true and someone buy me one...

I quite like them but mainly beacuse of the stuffing in the middle. And you have to have them with lots of gravy in my opinion. I'll admit I wouldn't buy them at any other time of year though.

I think they are totally delicious. The rest of my family - all turkey-eaters - also eat a slice or two, and not just to placate me.

you should try the field roast grain meat co. celebration roast. 10 times better than a tofurkey.

i loved them when i was newly veg, because they were so easy and i had no idea how to cook anything like seitan, and because they were sort of familiar and comforting. but they really aren't very good. the field roast is better, but expensive. honestly, the tofurky is overpriced for what it is in terms of substance and quality. if i want a roast-like thing now, i usually just make my own.
