edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
A neighbor on the NORTH side of Park Place halfway between Vanderbilt and Underhill had his/her door kicked in by thugs this morning at TEN O'OCLOCK. They managed to get stuff. No one was home at the time.
Beware of every stranger who comes to your door. Sadly.

theOther - I walk Park Place between Vandy and Underhill twice a day going to and from my son's day care - so the 5 guys giving beatings thing scares me a bit. When did that happen?!?

Artman, do you know if they caught the guys?

hey onandon --- this happened to me back in november. it happened at about 1:30 in the afternoon. i was walking down to Joyce to get a coffee and a croissant. i was dressed like a complete scrub, not yapping away on an iphone or anything that would draw attention.

i saw the group of 5 dudes down the block, should have just walked to the other side of the street. as they got closer i saw the biggest one look at his buddies and as i walked past they grabbed me from behind and popped me in the face. they tried going through my pockets, kind of...i started making a lot of noise and then a different one smashed me in the face again. they got half a pack of smokes, and the gratification of seeing the fear in my eyes. i guess that's fun for them.

they seemed like they were probably 16-18 years old, like they should be in school but dropped out and were bored at 1:30 in the afternoon.

Damn. That's really awful...it would have been easy to dismiss at 1:30 AM but mid-day attacks are just flat out brazen violence. Sorry to hear that happened to you. I've been told lots of times to avoid packs of teenagers...will definitely heed the advice in the future.
