i'm seeing lots of stuff opening (or spaces rented) on 7th avenue. nearly as fast as places are closing...

    1. new "voluspa" on 7th between lincoln and berkeley
    2. new nail salon above dolly lyla also on the same block
    3. new thistle hill tavern opening on 7th and 15th
    4. for rent sign has been removed from fruit stand next to jr electronics (heard gourmet bagels or pizza)
    5. for rent sign removed at old t thai place
    6. new johnny mack's on 7th where elementi was
    7. renovating the space next to ace supermarket which has been vacant for a long time.
    8. okeanos is new (heard it's good)
    9. new place opening where the old le bagel delight was

The Yamato renovation has been very active, and there was a sign in the window before it started telling people it would be closed for a couple of weeks. I think it's coming back.

cousin john's, however is starting to worry me.

first they said they were renovating and reopening jan. 24th and now it says "gone skiing" or something opening feb. 1.

    does anyone know the scoop?

they have been there forever, I know that place and have gone in there on ocassion. I like some of their stuff, but other things, I don't care for much. Not crazy about a lot of their cakes, not into the icing they do. And, their prices are higher than Cousin Johns, I remember last year when i was looking for strawberry shortcake calling them and cousin john's, and cousin john's was considerably cheaper.

I finally went into les pommes (is that it? the place on 5th avenue) a few weeks ago. Wow! $5 for a slice of pie! Too rich for my blood, I don't remember what an entire pie was, maybe about $30? Won't be going in there again, I knew there was a reason why I had never entered that store since they opened, what? 3 years ago?

Well, their desserts do look good, it's their prices I take exception with, LOL.

No, haven't tried that place, the name reminds me of a pet shop, lol. Do they have cakes and pies? I thought they were just muffins and cookies? No? Will look them up

i'm not sure if they have cakes or pies, but everything i've had from them is just delicious!

might be worth checking into for cakes, etc..

Oh, they are right near Lopez Bakery, interesting

No prices on the menu, what are their prices like? For example, how much is a cookie or a cupcake?
