PC to TV Audio

So, I want to play a movie from my laptop onto my TV, but the audio only seems to go as high as my laptop will go (not very). I'm using an HDMI cable. Any ideas on how to get the audio louder and/or controlled through my TV volume?

(p.s. another question for the suggested tech board...just sayin'
