paying people more to have kids by existentially given them tax credits. shouldn't they be charge more for using more resources not having more damn kids? people who don't have kids should be thanked.

I am pretty sure today's tax credits do not even make a dent in the costs of raising a child. I think the UFT is behind this! No kids = no teachers.

I think the hordes should continue to have lots of little kids so by the time I am ready to retire there will be at least some sort of base of tax payers so at least those in my age group can get some sort of social security benefit.

If the whole world goes to hell in a handbasket, you can always try to eat the little buggers.

I'd wager that people with kids pay far more in taxes than those without kids, even after these minor tax breaks.

Having kids is expensive. Sales tax is paid at every step along the way for more food, diapers (or gear in general), health costs, you name it.

And it's worth also noting that this immediate and sustained windfall in kid-related consumption pays toward salaries of many other jobs, btw. Which goes toward helping the overall tax base.

And let's not forget...these kids are all rising tax payers themselves, so at best any credit now on their behalf is just a minor token deferral before these folks start paying their own vastly more significant taxes at some point.

That's not to say that folks don't abuse the situation at some point on the spectrum, just that your initial analysis is far from complete and perhaps sdrawkcab itself.

This is a false dichotomy. There are plenty of rich uneducated people (our last president for example).

Don't care if there families are rich or poor, as long as they pay their taxes. Presumably, the tax credits for children will help those poorer families with more children. I can understand your point regarding the greater use of resources (natural as well as economic) but ultimately they are paying their proportional share.
