French Food in the Slope

So I've been to Moutarde and Belleville and I'm sorry but both experiences have been overpriced and mediocre at best. Belleville was the better of the two because they didn't serve off scallops but both had dirty glass wear, quick and dirty techniques (my beau asked for med-rare steak and it came out black and blue at Belleville and my risotto at moutarde wasn't fully cooked), and flavors that just didn't mesh well - my Belleville scallops came with a potato mash mixed with tart apples, bitter greens and greasy carmelized onions - wtf?

Can anyone recommend a french place in the slope besides those two places?

Canaille, on 5th Ave. between St. Marks and Warren. It's small, but it's truly French.

Moutarde was really French for (maybe) the first year they were open - now they have the mirrored bistro look and not much else I'm afraid. I go to ICI in Ft Greene for contemporary French. Delicious: http://www.icirestaurant.com/

Canaille gets my vote, too. Great food, and character.

New place in South Slope/WT discussed on the WT board:
"Le P'tit Paris" at PPW & Prospect Ave.

I like Ici a lot too. Within that radius I can't think of a better French place. Better than anything in BoCoCa, I would say.

Agree on Canaille. Solid french standards and a hoot of a french owner. Also like AOC.

    canaille most definitely the best...

ici isn't as good as it used to be.

aoc is just as good, if not better than ici, i think.

Canaille is the best in the Slope. Family run, delicious, and friendly.
