mini-freezer to complement mini-fridge?

my mini-apartment came with a mini-fridge whose mini-freezer doesn't work. i'd like to be able to cook and freeze stuff for later, keep frozen stuff in the house and generally, yuh know, take advantage of the modern conveniences that follow from having modern appliances. i don't need a fancy deep-freeze unit, just a decent freezer. anyone ever hear of such a thing being sold on its own? something the size of a smallish microwave oven would do the trick.

i'm also open to replacing the mini-fridge if that's a more economical option. does anyone know of a brand & model of mini-fridge w/ a decent-sized/working freezer section?

(by mini-fridge, i mean about 3 feet tall and 18" wide - bigger than those little cubes made for dorm rooms, but made to fit under a counter.)

Some of the local appliance shops might have good advice. I like the guys at J&R on 7th Ave between President and Union. I haven't ended up buying anything there, but employees at Tower Appliance on 5th/13th have been helpful and I think I've seen a lot of small fridges and freezers there.

More appliances than you could possibly imagine, and the best prices for all of them.

We had gotten one at Lowes and it was great - until it was appropriated by Joe College.

Can't remember the brand - but it was a mini fridge/freezer combo. It was actually surprisingly affordable ($139). The freezer section is not very big - but if this gives you a visual, the college kid kept six steins in that section. There is also a small one tray ice section. One bin and one shelf. It used to fit nicely under the counter.
