Metro stories from DC are making me love the MTA

I didn't think anything could make me have an appreciation of NYC MTA, but my friends who commute in DC are having one disastrous experience after another.

Another train derailed there today (no injuries reported). There's been multiple deaths to track workers. And their response to the blizzards have been awful. Granted they've had much more snow than us, and they have more outdoor track (I believe), but their response has been miserable.

Trains will stop running, but station agents tell commuters that a train is coming. Or station agents tell commuters to get on shuttle buses, only the buses aren't running. I read a quote from a Metro worker who said that employees basically treat snow storms as excuses not to come to work.

I have a lot of criticisms of MTA employees, but they do at least tend to show up for work.

So, thanks MTA. You don't suck as much as the DC Metro.

Having moved from DC to NYC over the last year I must concur that DC metro sucks year round, not just when it snows. But you don't have to take my word for it - read this blog http://unsuckdcmetro.blogspot.com/
