How to find partners to buy in the neighborhood?

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a forum for people who are looking to potentially partner up to buy a small building in the neighborhood? i.e. somewhere to meet other people looking to partner up and talk about the ins and outs of doing it? I am not a broker or big time investor, just looking to upgrade my rent to a mortgage, but prefer to share a brownstone than buy one of those silly new condos. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

You'd better have an airtight partnership agreement drafted by real estate lawyer at the ready.

People do this all the time and it's fine. A good real estate lawyer is definitely in order. I can recommend one if you need.

You may also consider buying a multifamily property and renting part of it out. With an FHA loan you can put down as little as 3.5%. This can be an even better investment.
