I'm looking for people to join a new CSA (Community Supported Agriculture).
Please check out http://www.brooklynbridgecsa.org

The farm is on Long Island and will provide us with the best, organic vegetables every week. Registration is open!

Sounds great - but there ARE already loads of options in the Slope; Farmer's Market, CSAs already in existence, Food Coop.

I'd be very interested in a meat-based CSA - in other words, buying shares in a cow, pig and/or sheep to freeze - that would be pretty cool.

There's one pork csa in Bklyn - look up The Piggery

I belong to the Coop but there's a super popular farm share that distributes out of the Garden of Union (near 4th Ave) - I wonder if they've expanded to animal products...

we did an all-veggie CSA last year and ended up throwing away too much due to an over abundance of things we did not enjoy -- that said, anyone know of a CSA that has veggies and fruits and dairy? I would rather support a local farmer 100% but can't justify so much of our food budget going to just veggies.

Maybe 3 different farmers getting together to do a vegetarian (not-vegan) CSA with a larger mix of types of food and therefore more people joining...

Now I think i'm inventing something in my head and not actually talking about something that exists...

xlizellx, I get great milk from the Milk Thistle people (Grand Army Plaza Saturday, Carroll Gardens Sunday, Union Sq...Fridays?)
Cato Corners cheese at GAP is totally awesome too.

    ljnd, I KNOW!
Their charcuterie is great. Last year The Piggery came down for the New Amsterdam Market, and did a winter pork CSA out of the Meat Hook in W'burg -- AND are very very likely expanding to a drop off in Park Slope this summer.

thank you! Do you have to do both the veggie membership and the fruit? or can you JUST do the fruit? thanks!

the vibe i get is that most CSAs have the veggie share as your "basic membership" and then everything else is optional and on top of the basic price. i'm in the process of researching them as well...

There are actually quite lengthy waiting lists at several area CSAs. Hopefully the OP can find some of those folks.
