saw the running lights of their sign last night - it's close to the Union St R stop, on 4th between Pres and Carroll. But the storefront still had real estate signs in the window...

Hope they have Oaxacan tamales . . .

The Smith street "Oaxaca" has absolutely ZERO to do with oaxacan cuisine. It's a mediocre taco place. Same for the new Manhattan burrito joint called Oaxaca too.
I fear it maybe just another marketing trend.

But on the upside, if they did have tamales and moles I would be one hell of hapy camper! Just imagine picking up dinner that close to the subway station. Perfect.

I think the tacos are pretty good. Not great, but not a bad option for a cheap meal to pick up on the way home. The tacos are decent size, generously filled with meat. The carnitas taco was quite tasty. I think their rice and beans need work. I haven't tried anything else. The place is absolutely zero in terms of decor and there are just a couple of wood counters in the back to eat at, so don't plan on dining in!
