The vegetable store on Nostrand between Union and Eastern Parkway. This place has really upped it's game. Looks like they pumped some money into renvoations. They have a neat little cheeses and meats and organics and such. Anyone else check it out?

Yep, I'm a regular in there. They are definitely adding new items, plus there are a lot of things you wouldn't expect to find in a green grocer which are stocked as regular items. Now if they would just expand their produce, I might become their biggest cheerleader.

I stopped by today and have to agree that it's much nicer than I remember. The fruit an vegetables are pretty solid and there is a nice cheese selection.

Thanks for the info. I needed cheese today and the options at Associated aren't that great. I'll check out CJ on the way home tomorrow.

FYI, the Associated on Franklin has a good cheese section too.

Its a bit of a hike, but Western Beef on Empire and Franklin is absolutely astounding price and quality-wise. They have a cheese bar (is that the proper terminology?) in the back with a hefty selection. My favorite part is the walk-in freezer for the meats and dairy in the back with a wall labeled "BACON."

Western Beef deserves it's own thread... especially with BBQ season here! The walk-in freezer is great, as is the fish guy. TIP: go to the butcher in the back and he'll serve up whatever size/cut you want. Make sure to tip him tho. ;)

Ha! This came up in the very first thread I started on Brooklynian (back when it was called Daily Heights).
