Ornamental pears known as Callery Pears.

You may note the sharp angles in the branch crotches. These make the trees susceptible to breakage due to ice or age.

Silver Lindens bloom in June after the Ailanthus have smelled up the neighborhood.

if you have an iphone or ipod-touch, there's a cool app that shows you what kinds of trees are near you in NYC:

I work for the Brooklyn Forestry division of Parks & Recreation. Community Board 6 is one of the districts that I maintain. If you'd like to know anything about trees or tree work or anything related to the topic of trees and parks, I'm more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. However, please keep in mind that I do not represent NYC, the Parks Department or anything and anyone other than myself.

So, are they Callery Pears or Silver Lindens? I don't see any of the little "fruit" on these trees that are blooming now.
