laundry machines

We are a 20 unit coop who rents our washers and dryers from Sebco. Our contract with them is up this coming year and we want to shop around. Any other small buildings out there who rent their machines from a different laundry service?

Whatever you do, don't go with Fowler. Absolutely awful service which kept our building without washing machines for 3+ weeks. Then there were the inexplicable cycle-timing changes and price increases, things that nobody can do anything about. All in all: bad.

My old building used Hercules. http://www.hercnet.com/ I don't know too much about the customer service end of things, but the washers at least always worked and the prices were stable.

ditto on fowler, times ten. they screwed us so badly we lost over $500. *and* left us without a machine for more than a month.

when this happened i launched on of my executive email carpet bomb and it was one of the very few times it failed. they simply did not care or choose to pretend to.

(also, we're a small building so we own our machine and dryer)

Yes, we did a comparison study and realized that owning machines and paying for repairs and maintenance (plus room upkeep, which our service provides, as well as keeping half the income, which helps the coops coffers) was a much cheaper deal that owning our own. Sebco is okay, but we want to know our options (thank you for Hercules, they are a good competitor when it comes time to seeking bids).

ah i didn't see the revenue part of the equation. i just buy those normal ones and people wash for free :p. just a good way to keep good tenants.

armchair, you sound like a landlord of a rental building. very different equation for you than for us.

Our building just switched to Hercules. So far, I'm happy with the quality of the machines and their service. Our other vendor (cannot remember the name) was horrible.
