FIRE!

Looks like that abandoned building at 23rd and 5th caught on fire today. Anyone know the deal?

I came home to find a ton of fire trucks blocking access to my block. I walked up to a fireman and said, "woah, what building caught on fire?" and he turned towards me and said "are you kidding me?!" I look over and the building's windows are all exploded and there's ash everywhere.

I saw it too, was going over to Luigi's for a slice, and as I was coming down 23rd I saw it.

    Here's a shot I took:

Man, I bet the White Eagle Tavern was a pretty cool place back in the day. I'm surprised that place has been abandoned for so long. The 7 years I've been in the hood it's always been shuttered.

Too bad the fire fighters didn't go up on the escape and release all the local kids basketballs. There's like 20 of 'em up there.

Just go into Smolen up the block to get an idea of the clientele. Most of the bars in the neighborhood were like this. My personal favorite was Charlie Brown's.

718 is on the next block going towards 22nd St, so I doubt there's any problem with it.
