Also, note that Prospect Heights is apparently bordered by Atlantic and Eastern and Flatbush and FRANKLIN according to the article. So our little section of Crown Heights/Crow Hill is included in the stats. Wonder how it helped/hurt the stats: More crime but lower costs?

Typical. That's what happens when you have articles written about New York neighborhoods by someone who moved here from Chicago a year ago.

I'm with the commenters who beieve that a lot of livable neighborhoods have been left out.....

I'm not a big fan of the little neighborhoods in Queens, but surely they should get more mention.

NY Mag is stupid when it comes to real estate- I believe they are mostly full of shit. I back that up with Carnivore's comment.

Ha! Nah- I don't pay attention to those things- I know what I have, and don't need some stupid magazine to justify myself and make me feel worthy.

And as I was telling you yesterday, I'm sure I'd go broke and be twice as big of I lived in Park Slope with all the restaurants there. Just driving down 5th Ave makes me hungry!

I need it- other people telling me reminding me justifying my high rent. Teehee.

Damn.... if not for the unaffordability Manhattan would eb the shit. I guess that's pretty obvious. But IDK... you can't put a price on proximity to work and safety. For me, after having lived on Nostrand, everything else is secondary

Am I the only one who thinks it's insane that they quoted $1675 as the average price for a two-bedroom? Where the hell did they get that stat, 2003? Even if stretching the border to Franklin, that's off by a long shot. You can barely find a true one-bedroom for that price nowadays.

I don't know anyone paying more than $1600 a month for a two bedroom.

For real? How long have they been in their apts? Where did they find them?

I'm currently looking and have found nothing like this, especially in real Prospect Heights (Washington & west of). I'm looking for at least a 1.5 bedroom for $1700 and it's almost non-existent. Take a look at Craigslist and local brokers. Yikes.

LOL...I meant stretching the border to Franklin.

But for the folks I know living in the real PH, they all rent in owner occupied Brownstones and have been there for years.

So...you've got a point! Good luck on your seach.

Yes, Crown Heights (east of Washington) is less expensive.
