HOT BIRD

Seriously, you all need to go check this place out. At first I was bummed that it wasn't spicy take-out chicken, but when I visited last night I realized it was the bar that Clinton Hill South has been needing for a long time.

Great beers on tap, awesome lighting, good music on a good sound system, cool converted-garage atmosphere, and a beer garden with a forthcoming food truck (from the Patois dude) that will serve hot dogs and kimchi eggs and corn on the cob blah blah.

Seems we have our own Habana Outpost in Clinton Hill now.

I drank a Six Point Rye on tap. I didn't look much further than that. The entrance is on Clinton Avenue right by Atlantic.

My wife and I tried this place last night and had a great time. They've done a good job with the renovation and there is plenty of outdoor seating. Servers were friendly, too. The beer selection was interesting, lots of craft beers. The Ommegang was very tasty and the cocktails were well made. I just wonder how well this will go over with those who aren't so interested in smaller breweries and prefer more mainstream stuff like Bud or Corona. Nothing wrong with that, mind you, but from a business perspective, I would think that offering those beers would maximize profits.

And what better advertising than the giant "Hot Bird" billboard above the place. Very easy to find.

Regardless, I will definitely return. It's great to have so many drinking options in the neighborhood.

Glad to hear they have craft brews - that's my sh-t right there.

I'm excited for this. And glad they don't sell corporate brews - in the opposite of Jack Krohn's statement, I tend to not go to places with lots of taps dedicated to Macrobrews. Washington Commons seems to be doing just fine and they don't serve that garbage either.

Some of the beers at Hot Bird were a little obscure. Was hoping they might have some Brooklyn Brewery beers on tap but they didn't. I liked the space a lot though and the bartender was very friendly.

we went today ... good place. i was told they'd have food in the next 2 weeks, and the menu is extensive. The beers we had were GREAT but they do have macrobrews like bud and whatnot -- not sure if things changed since Jack Krohn went, but they had cheap bud and Guiness. Neither were things we had, but just letting people know...

I've been back to Hot Bird and had another fun time. I didn't notice the macrobrews, probably because I rarely drink that, but I guess it's good to know that it's there for those who do. Hope the food comes soon, as I'm getting sick of McDonald's!

I was just there with my better half from 6:30-8p tonight. (sneaking out when time permits, lol)

That fenced-in outdoor benches area is going to kick serious ass come the warmer weather, summer nights.

What a great bar. Bartender was knowledgeable and pretty darn funny. We loved it, even though we were the first ones there and had to cut out at 8.

    Definitely going back.

Went recently and loved it. Good beer selection (could have done with more ales and stouts though - but it's summer, what do you expect).

Food truck food was good, interesting menu (for a truck @ at a bar).

Sitting outside was great. Lots of seating. Went on a weeknight, I wonder how crowded it gets on weekends though.

I went last Friday and had a great time. It's like the anti-Habana, no crowds yet, great seating, easy access to cheap food, and the beers are fantastic. To whoever said they should include bud, etc., to be viable as a business - thank GOD that in Brooklyn in 2010, you are wrong!
