Another Coffee Shop for Washington Ave.

One of the guys working in the old Nike's West African Import place (on Washington Ave between St Johns and Lincoln) said they were going to be opening a coffee shop. That makes 3 new coffee shops on Prospect Heights' stretch of Washington Ave in less than year.

I'm psych'd and don't even drink coffee.

Any idea what is going in at the closed fried chicken place on Prospect and Washington? I have seen some work being done inside.
Also any updates on when The Way Station, Minor Arcana and "Goods" on Underhill will open.

Hi, my wife is the one opening Coffee Bites. She is hoping to open before the end of the month! There is a bit of a financial crunch right now, as the refitting of the space went well beyond our budget and contractors havent stuck to schedules, so her menu might be a bit spare to start off with, but I know her goal is to have great Italian style espresso, capuccino and latte, fair trade coffee, bagels, muffins, and freshly baked croissants.

I'll post more info here as we have it.

Subject: Coffee Bites opening gradually

Hi, just a quick update. Coffee Bites is open for limited hours starting this week. We have excellent Counter Culture espresso and drip coffee and cold drinks. We are still trying to work out the kinks, and don't have A/C yet, so it may be a while before we have our full menu of food and full hours. In the meantime, if you see the door open, come in and let us know what you like or don't like, and we will try to get it.

Stopped into Coffee Bites this morning and had a nice chat with the owner> Glad to see a new business on this stretch of Washington.

I tried Coffee Bites this morning for a simple cup of coffee, and was disappointed first that I had to rely on the server to decide how much milk to put in (not enough). Why not have a jug by the sugars like most other places? But worse was later, on my way into the city, when I went for the last gulp and got a mouthful of grounds. Disgusting. Not a good first impression. And I really wanted to like this place.
