why are you stalking her? don't tell me it's just a coincidence that you are also always at either starbucks or ozzies, checking her out.

If I had to guess, I'd say the OP is referring to the person mentioned here:

    Have you seen this woman?

I'm thinking of a different woman, and this goes back several years, but does anyone remember a woman who used to stand around almost rhythmically chanting "Sign the Petition!"? I remember seeing her on 7th Ave. outside of Key Food, and often at Union Square. She usually had placards featuring abortion or animal cruelty or something (probably different petitions).

"Sign the Petition" lady is classic! She used to be on the upper west side - around 73rd and broadway and had a picture of a naked woman being fed into a meat grinder (when she was anti-porn). I remember being freaked out by her and her crazy signs when I was as young as 6 or 7 years old (early-mid 80s). Later she transitioned to animal cruelty and migrated south, downtown and then to Brooklyn. True NY character.

Dude! I call that man the Subway Opera Guy! I always encounter him on the subway platform at the 7th Ave F station, him trilling the whole time.

She used to take up residence at the Starbucks on 7th Avenue, sitting at a spot close to the front window. She'd do little beads-on-string works and I thought she was a very upscale bag lady. I still see her occasionally, traipsing around the Slope in a long taffeta skirt, with hair sculpted into a disheveled up-do. In the 1930s, she would have been one classy hobo.

I've also seen her. ...she seems aware of surroundings enough that she doesn't get hit by a car, which is always a good thing.

Who is the guy that plays the accordian at 7th Avenue and Park Place bus stop every morning. And who is that woman that owns Hooti Couture the used clothing store on Flatbush. Should be vintage, but really a refined thrift store. And who is the pigeon feeder at the 7th Avenue and park Place triangle park?? Anyone know.?

I saw her yesterday in front of Key Food ( black skirt/white shirt lady). She's been around for years wearing that outfit. I wonder if she has more than one.

I LOVED Sign the Petition lady. Friend of mine (male, very establish-looking) once walked by her with her meat grinder photo, stopped and went back, pointed to the lady in the meat grinder and asked "How much do you want for that?"

She was not amused, but the rest of us laughed our asses off.

So earnest, the people with causes.

Who is the lady with the short hair who walks up and down Sterling Place with her hands in her pockets asking passersby "excuse me mister, can you spare any change?" Then she buys Arizonas at the bodega on 6th and Sterling.

Opera guy lives on my block, he is always walking past my building singing, I see him around in the supermarket and surrounding stores. He always seems to be going or coming.

There is an old lady with thick glasses and dyed purple hair I see at Connecticut muffin or the deli next to Yamato a lot, she will strike up a conversation with anyone standing near her.

Allison owns Hooti Couture. She's funny and smart and used to be a model once upon a time. About 7 years ago, she wrote a book about her life/business. I'm just a (former) customer.

Yeah...you must have caught her on a good day. She was by the World Trade Center one time when a friend of mine from overseas and I were walking by...he (understandably) said something along the lines of, "What the f*** is that all about?" and she flipped out about how she was being disrespected and started chasing him around! Now fortunately my boy had a sense of humor, and decided to just evade this kook - although it was nip and tuck as he was trying to run while practically doubled over with laughter. She eventually gave up and retuned to her table, no doubt to seethe with impotent rage.

Another time shortly after the cause switched to animal rights for whatever reason, a female friend of mine asked (with real interest) what had happened to the previous cause. The replay? "We (yeah right - my comment) had to change it because you're a c***."

    Figured I'd share.
