Good tailor in the North Slope?

Anyone know any good tailors for a suit (jacket and pants) in the North Slope? How's Wing Fat?

Also, I've never really gotten a suit tailored before. How long does it usually take? If I drop it off on a Saturday, think I'll be able to pick it up by Tuesday?

In my experience, tailoring a suit usually takes at least a week, more likely two weeks.

Personally, I have not entrusted my suits to any of the local dry cleaners since Jack closed his shop at 8th Ave and 15th Street.

I use a tailor shop in Manhattan:

Yeah -- even hemming pants seems to take at least a 3 days.

I'm in the North Slope, and have yet to find a tailor in the neighborhood that anyone else will vouch for (and I'm not willing to risk a nice suit).

With that, I've had excellent experiences with One Stop in Carroll Gardens, on Court Street between 3rd and 4th. I've dealt with Victor (the owner) and one of the women who work there (whose name I forget), and they've always been very friendly, very nice, and done excellent work at a reasonable price.

How long your suit takes to get tailored depends on how much work it needs - do you just need the pants and sleeves hemmed? Or much more than that? Expect 3 days to a week, depending.

Second the rec for One Stop - Victor did a fantastic job with my suit a few months ago. I also seem to recall seeing recommendations for a woman on Flatbush on this board when I was looking for myself, but can't find the link now; you may want to search the boards.

while i can't vouch for how they would do with a suit, i've had all my hemming, etc., done at the cleaners done underneath the Flatbush Ave. Crunch for years now.

Shush! She's so overworked now she's trying to hire someone else to help her, which means SHE won't necessarily be doing my alterations. I took a few things for hemming in recently and the wait time was 2 weeks. For hems. Also, her name is not Agatha, I'm pretty sure.

I think her name is Agnes, but am not sure. Wow, am glad to hear her business is doing so well (although it sucks to have to wait)

Yeah, 2 weeks for some hems is crazy, but I do like her work. A year and a half ago, she did all kinds of stuff including totally dismantling and resizing a multi-layered bridesmaids dress for me in under a week.

Yep, but some things are worth going a bit farther from home. Personally, a good tailor is one of those things.

Thanks a lot folks! After a shit-ton of freaking out yesterday when the realization dawned that I'd most likely show up to my interview in an ill-fitting, improperly tailored suit (if at all), I just went to the Men's Wearhouse on Atlantic and bought the cheapest one I could find, and I can pick it up Monday. They've got a pretty good sale going on now.

Man, I can't believe I thought I could just take it to the Wing Fat and have it ready in 2 days.
