Brothers Moving Storage under new management

The giant yellow landmark on Atlantic and Underhill may soon be history. It was sold to a big chain, and the facade is covered with "under new management" signs. Sadly, I don't imagine the new owners will keep Brothers' signature supergraphics and yellow color scheme.

damn. When I fly into LaGuardia, I always look for it and have warm thoughts of home.

I never like the joint, weird system where the guy comes with you to the storage etc... one person at a time. just not efficient.

How will I tell people from out of town how to get Washington Avenue?

"When you are on Atlantic, drive past the suburban style McDonalds, then you'll see this huge yellow building that is all lit up that says STORAGE. You can't miss it...."

They better keep the yellow paint. How will I find my way home at night?

Yep, looks like we're gonna lose this icon - they took down all the lights along the rooftop sometime last week.

I used to hate it, but came to love it as a unique piece of Brooklana...like a roadside elephant on Route 66, you just have to love the apologetic extremeness of it. A comic book panel come to life. I'd even come to call the little triangle park on Underhill and Atlantic "Storage Park".

If it were being stripped and restored to the gorgeous old brick warehouse it is, I wouldn't be so sad, but no doubt this thing will be an orange, beige and blue eyesore - with none of Brothers' graphic character - before you know it.

    Farewell "Storage Building"!

whynot - totally with you on those directions. "you'll see this orange, beige, and blue building..." just doesn't have the same ring as "GIANT YELLOW MONSTROSITY."
