While we have bounced around on this topic, especially those of us near Green-Wood, here's a topic from today's brownstoner.com forum:

Raccoon Removal Asap!
Categories: Exterminator
OK, as you can see by our newly active posts in the GWH Backyard Reno blog, we love our garden...and our home as well.

While we have always had issues with our ring-tailed friends since moving here in 2004, this summer has taken the prize...and unfortunately making us take action.

Having a raccoon occasionally didg up some plants, help him/herself to a veggie, poop (OK, that's not cool) or drag some garbage into the yard, OK.

Moving under our shed (we think), shitting everywhere (though always in the same spot), bedding down in our greens, dragging beer cans into the yard ("Simple Time Lager" anyone) and now climbing up our back roof and trying to break in (destroying our built in screens in the process) is enough!

While we'll be surfing the web and hitting the Yellow Pages for a humane removal company, does anyone out there have any experience hiring a trapper? Any recommendations?
Sounds like a backyard issue, not a Green-Wood issue...as I have not seen one of the buggers coming form the Cemetery in the past 2 years...

Uhh. I've seen racoons, going into and out of Greenwood Cemetery on 3 or 4 occasions this year. There, and further up on McDonald Ave. up in Windsor Terrace; also on 23rd street side of the ConEd substation.

They tend to go in, if they are from GWC...but I'd bet every 'nabe is different.
