Van Hijacked on 7th Av

Around 5:00 a white van was hijacked, hit 2 cars, and with the police chasing him, came to a halt on 7th Ave & 1st St, when it smashed into a tow truck. The police rushed to the hijacker, with their guns drawn, screaming "Put your hands up". It appeared to me the perp was under the influence. The victim was in the passenger seat. Perp was arrested, and no one was hurt. About 7 police cars, and several undercovers on the scene.

Actually it was someone stealing books from the Seventh Avenue Barnes and Noble's who ran out of the store to his friend in a waiting van, but a police officer was right there to chase him, though the cop got punched in the face and had to go to Methodist Hospital. Lots of damage to several cars for stolen books.

for books sound like bad movie made for tv.

A literate thief? I'd almost like to see him/her be released (unless Twilight books were involved).
