Also you might even want to ask the people in the Brooklyn Back When group. They may be able to provide some of their own pictures.

Is this for something specific. I ask only because I have being doing some ancestry research and the old newspapers in the Public Library has some photos of my old street and some people from my family.

    Good luck.

You can also search the NYC archives for 1941 (i think?) tax photo archives. There's one for each building, although the quality is sometimes poor (it's on microfiche).

    ETA: Details here: http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/taxphotos/home.shtml

Was 3rd Ave. considered part of Park Slope back then?

it would have been called South Brooklyn or Park Slope
In the early 1900 it could even be considered Gowanus/Red Hook

I ordered the tax photo for our building. I was excited to get it, but arches says, the quality is not good. I think the poor photographer was basically hefting a tripod and a large format camera up the street for 8 hours a day, stopping, guessing focus, clicking, and moving on.
We thought we'd frame the photo and put it in the entryway, but instead it's stayed in its envelope for the past few years.
