FYI at the Key Foods on Flatbush they have 12 packs of Old Milwaukee for $3.50 right now.

It's so bad, but it feels so right.

holy shit! it's time to bust out pitchers of Cuban beer spritzers!!! (in a pitcher filled with ice, mix a couple cans of totally shitty, cheap beer, the juice of two lemons, and seltzer. yum!)

Ol' Swil isn't even that bad.

    Is it the 14oz. cans?

    wow, wow, wow.

my fiance is kind of a beer snob, though. damn.

    nah....its the 12oz, but I can't really complain.

hey, I like a nice microbrew too, but nothing beats an ice-cold lawnmower beer or 4 on a hot day.

The $0.99 PBR is nice though. If you see it around most places now, they have a hipster tax built into it.

Some of my Mexican friends did that, too, but they added a little hot sauce- I can only echo your 'yum!'

ahh, yes, then you're either having a michelada or a cubana. one has chili pepper, lime juice, salt on the rim, ice in the glass, and one has tomato juice, hot sauce, ice in the glass, salt on the rim. and there's a lot of internal (to mexico) debate over which is which. I learned to specify what, exactly, I wanted in the damn glass, drink name be damned.

oh, and as the guy at rosa mexicana said when I ordered a michelada with a negra modelo - "ahh, good one. negra modelo is the secret weapon in this drink."

AH! You're right! My friends (Mexicans: Minnesota Edition) called the ones with hot sauce minus tomato juice 'micheladas!' Now that I ponder, I don't think that they put any seltzer in those, right?

yeah, no seltzer. but they do have ice. it's more like adorning a beer, or making a beer more cocktail-like. on the street in mexico at the markets, they sell those drinks for around $1 in these HUGE (like, 64 oz) styrofoam cups.

Also, when in a pinch, they would just squeeze a lime wedge on top of a can (preferably Tecate) so that you get a little juice with every sip!

All this talk is making me thirsty... I might have to head over there on a lunch break!
