Favorite Prospect Heights dry cleaners?

Does anyone have any favorite dry cleaners in Prospect Heights, especially for getting out a tough stain? Wondering if anyone has had particularly good experiences anywhere? I'm willing to pay a little extra to actually get the stain out, in this case.

Though also, while on the topic, I'd be interested in any general recs in PH for dry cleaning for regular worn but not-horribly stained items,.. any places stand out in terms of pricing, quality, etc?

thanks...!

I've been going to the place on Underhill between Sterling and St. Johns for years. Very friendly, haven't lost or damaged anything so far. Clothes come back clean - don't know what other criteria to use but I like them...

I go there mostly because it's closest to me. I find it ok for the same reasons you say. Others I know really like Caree Cleaners on Vanderbilt, but I've never tried it because Cao Tien is closer and adequate.

I use Caree for general dry cleaning and pressing and I have not had any complaints.

Any garment that needs stains removed, or special care, etc. I only trust Bridge Cleaners (Downtown Brooklyn). They also do a good job tailoring both men and women's suits.

Caree did a great job of getting a big stain out of a brand new coat. For what it's worth - But I also live right near there so I generally go there just out of convenience.

I used to go to Caree because of its convenience, and because a lot of people mention it. I slowly realized that it was overpriced and that they don't actually get out many stains (though the people there are nice).. I started going to Golden Touch on Flatbush and have had more success there.

I also enjoy Golden Touch for my "better" clothing. Caree is over priced and sometimes they have over charged me on jackets vs. coats, etc. They are nice and I do like them but...they have shrunk linings in some of my dresses and I have had to return clothing which had funky smells (dry cleaning fluid mixed w/BO and stale perfume, really! yuk). In general, don't take clothing to the cleaners during busy times of the week/month/year.

ive been using caree for dry cleaning and hemming women's pants for ten years without complaint. i do think they are overpriced and have def not been successful w some stains, but friendly staff and prompt service makes it worth it, to me. i bring my leather to the one on flatbush next to american apparel

Yes, Golden Touch on Flatbush sends out leather and suede and I have been very happy with the service. They have a VERY good tailor too.
