Recycling inkjet cartridges?

Anyone know anyplace in NYC (subway accessible NYC) that collects inkjet printer cartridges for recycling? i know most printer companies have mail-in locations, but they make the users pay the shipping for most and wind up reusing the cartridges (seems like a bit of a scam to me). I'd rather put them in a recycling bin for a program that sees the profit of a "buy-back" program with the printer makers.
