My husband and I have an Iranian rug that is in need of repair and cleaning. I saw a thread from a few years back where others had recommended Clines, but didn't see any recent stuff. Has anyone used Clines recently, or have another rug repair/cleaner they could recommend? Thanks!

    Subject: Carpet Cleaners

Clines, Kalfaian, Long Island Carpet Cleaners, Macy's, Bloomingdale's etc. are all really one company at 301 Norman Ave. in Greenpoint. If you call the number listed under Clines they answer as Clines etc. It is all one huge operation. They pick up or you can drop off the rugs for a discount. I have been using them forever and they do a good job. They wash the rugs in giant vats and then dry them on huge hangers. It is kind of interesting to go there and see the process. They aren't cheap but reliable. I guess they want to give the impression that they are lots of small companies. It is funny to hear them pick up the phone using different names. They also do repair work.

I recently used Megherian and was pretty lukewarm about them. My rug looks good but it took eons for them to give it back. After they picked it up, they never called me about it being done and when *I* called *them*, they tried to upsell me on lots of other services. I told them to just clean it and after one or two missed drop off appointments, I finally got it back. Took at least a month for a small rug...
