Trash Pickup

I was just about to post that the trash on Butler Place hadn't been picked up for a few days, when the Sanitation truck came roaring down the street. Anyway, was there a holiday this week that caused the Tuesday pickup to be canceled? I notice that every so often there's a pickup that seems to have been skipped.

Hi. If a collection is scheduled on a FEDERAL HOLIDAY such as Election Day, trash pick up is generally not done. It looks like many folks on my block (including mwah) both long-time home owners and supers, forgot. Lest we forget....
Also, if there is very bad weather, i.e. snowstorms or tornados...where there is a lot of street cleaning to be done, it is a sure bet there will be a delay or cancellation without notice.
One can go on a variety of city/local websites and check or call your local sanitation department...however I have checked with our local sanitation folks on occasion and even they are not always sure.

Not a good thing to leave out the recycling stuff for a whole week as it gets strewn around and full of dog pee...not nice for the Sanitation guys or the block. We love New York.

    Good night.

Though I proudly voted I managed to forget there was no trash pickup that day. When I called 311 a couple of days ago they said to leave the trash curbside until it is picked up.....
