Crime near Park and Vanderbilt

I was walking down Park last night near the corner of Vanderbilt and saw a woman on the other side of the street running and screaming. A group of people ran over to her and were speaking with her and seemingly trying to comfort her. Unfortunately, I was running late and had to be somewhere and could not stop to find out what the problem was. Does anyone know what happened? Hopefully not another mugging.

There was a mugging at gun point right on Underhill the other night,

and let me not forget the series of smashed car windows along sterling place.

Car break-ins are suddenly happening almost every night.

The police sort of shrug in confusion when asked.

I must say that that block has long been the site of muggings, especially nearer to Underhill on the North side of the street where you have that tree/shrub that overhangs the sidewalk and creates a dark area. I'd suggest asking the owners to either turn on or install exterior lights, and to trim back that particular hazzard. Crime overall has been down, so it hasn't really seemed that dangerous. Now that crime is on the rise expect that places like this will come back in vogue among the snatch and grab group and the stickup kids.

It is a well traveled area too.

....lots of folks are constantly using Park to get to the Q train on Flatbush.

In the past, this was a favorite site of the teenager who grabbed cell phones and used a bike to get away.

    Gunpoint is obviously much scarier.
