Best Place for a Stoop Sale?

We're gearing up for a stoop sale. I live on a relatively busy street, but the amount of pass-by traffic is somewhat disappointing, especially on weekends. My question is whether it's worth it to haul our stuff to a higher traffic location, and if so, what are the best locations in Prospect Heights?

nah - I think you're better off posting signs around the neighborhood and chalking the corners of other, busier streets, like flatbush and vanderbilt. that'll get people to wander by your place.

I'll allow you to set up shop on my high traffic corner (vandy-bergen) for a reasonable percentage of the take. I might even give you some of my very desirable, very rare collection of ikea furniture to sell, on consignment, of course.

Hang on a minute. We haven't discussed terms of my cut of the profits yet.

At that rate, all you get is the hourly egg shower.

Another tip-- post a (free) stoop sale announcement on Craigslist. You'll get the crazy stoop-sale junkies coming early and rifling through your stuff with a practiced eye, then complaining if you don't have exactly what was promised in the ad. Last time I had a stoop sale one of them bought a container of old Wham, Pet Shop Boys, etc. cassette tapes from me for like $5. A few days later I saw them for sale (still in the container) at Bob & Judy's Antiques on 5th.

The dates that are being discussed probably don't work for us, but we'd still be interested in a group stoop sale, either on another date, or if we left stuff with you guys to sell (you could charge us commission, or maybe just give the proceeds to charity).

I'd be willing to participate... since I'm on Vanderbilt and Bergen. Maybe things have picked up since Beast and Le Gamin opened, but foot tarffic was weak during my last attempt.

i had a stoop sale on sterling & underhill a couple weeks ago. traffic was weak. i sold about 1/3 of my stuff though and made $85 that i didn't have before. many a passer-by suggested that next time i set up by the Q stop to get more traffic. a friend of mine who lives near gorilla says that she sees people wheeling their stoop sale stuff down to 5th ave to set up there.
