I'm guessing that the main theme of those threads will be to see Robert Rosenkranz on 3rd St and 8th Ave. I heartily concur, as does my bf and we've both been for more than basic check-ups.

I use Izabella Belenkiy @ 10 Plaza Street.

I caught that theme myself and plan on going to him. And it's walking distance. Do you know if you have to get blood work done first? That seems to be a common thing these days and I don't feel like seeing a doctor just to see the dentist. One's enough.

Blood work? What kind of blood work are we talking about?

Yep, neither my bf or I had blood work done, ever, for the dentist. What kind of dentist are you going to??

I have no idea what kind of blood work they want to do. I assume this is related to malpractice insurance policies or something.

This reminds me of this episode, you need to get to the middle for the joke, but it's hilarious.

I used to see Dr Teichman and I couldn't disagree more - he is an excellent dentist.

I just switched to the Dental Spa on 5th Avenue - Love it there - care is great and they take my insurance.

Absolutely Dr. Robert Rosenkranz on 3rd St and 8th Ave. He is a great professional. His staff is polite and efficient. My partner had a root canal performed by him and the process was painless, fast and did not leave any trouble back.

Dr Nathaniel Sasson on 9th street between 5th and 6th is terrific. Have recommended him before and still am a fan.

I also looked at older threads here about a dentist and tried out Rosenkranz and was happy with the results. I've had cleanings and one cavity filled. He also doesn't seem to be drill happy which is good.

Thank you all! I went to Dr. Rosenkranz today and he is a gem of a human being. He said I didn't need any blood tests, and knew what it was about. It used to be that if you had a heart murmur, even a benign one like I have that doesn't affect me at all, you had to get blood work done in some cases. He said that ended in 2007.

And he waved the $100 check-up fee because I don't have dental insurance. And he was overall a very nice, plesant man and his assistants were all very competent, patient and friendly. Dare I say the dental visit was almost a delight - as much as a dental visit could be.

I was so afraid of going to the dentist (hence the three weeks since I posted this question), but it was great and pain free. And they were pretty easy on the guilt (some dental folk berate you like you're some sort of child molestor for not flossing properly).

    So thanks again!
