Like all urban areas, the word ‘gentrification’ can spark a heated debate anywhere in Brooklyn. Our neighborhoods have undergone huge transformations in the recent past, polarizing their inhabitants in the process. Have we gained vibrancy, or lost it? Revitalized or destroyed? New York sheds its skin like a living thing, layering new on top of old, leaving a trail of nostalgia and dissention in its wake.
