Time Warner Cable/Internet Outage Today

My cable and internet have been down since 2:45 PM today and I'm starting to get hysterical. I called TW at about 5PM and they said there's an outage in the area, but that's all the info I got. I'm on Bergen and 5th. Can someone please tell me everything is going to be okay? I'm currently leeching bandwidth from a kind soul who hasn't locked their network, but please forgive me, I can't face the alternative.

hysterical? I'm hoping thats a hyperbole (unless you work online for a living, in which case I'm hoping you at least went to a coffeeshop to make ends meet.)

but i am a remote employee so if this problem isn't sorted out by morning, i'm off to starbucks.

Have you tried to re-boot your box? We were having trouble today and I re-booted it an all was good.

    Unplug you modem.

    Unplug you router.

    Wait for 30+ secs.

Break out the Lou Rawls and box wine. SRSLY. DO YOU.

    Plug in the modem.

    Plug in the router.

If that doesn't fix it. I have a Cablevision call center I'd LOVE to sell you.

i've unplugged my modem and my router four times since this nightmare began and the internet light on the modem just keeps flashing at me. i'm taking down my christmas tree and watching julie & julia on dvd, but i'm starting to feel like there is no hope for tv when i go to bed tonight. i'm about ready to sell my house and move back to manhattan.

Yeah. You need to get at the cable company. Cablevision, right?

One last thing you could do is move your modem to the closest jack to where it comes in through the wall (if you follow my plebe-speak). If it's still not working, that's one more decent hunk of truth you can lob at the support center.

Also, note if you have cable/other devices that are hooked up to the service and whether they're working or not, in whatever degree.

    Lastly, hold strong, mountain-flower.

    Time Warner is my punisher.

My work laptop is hardwired directly into the modem which is literally three feet away from the drop in the wall. The router comes into play for my Macbook and other wireless gadgets. Nothing is working and I might as well be living in a cave.

Just called Time Warner again and they continue to state that there is an outage in my area.

    Deliver me from this Hell!

I hear you and I see you three wontons.

When the cable company says there's a whatnot... you're shucked.

Here's the deal. Retarded Anarchistic Free Wifi. You seem receptive.

How to make a super wifi antenna out of a wok strainer.

If you do it, I will mail a can of organic cat food. I've done it and have nailed wifi signals up to a 1/4 mile away.

    That's some boyscout business.

you're just trying to get me to build this ridiculous thing and post a picture so you can laugh at my utter desperation to watch Iron Chef Japan @ 3AM. fortunately for me, the cheap strainer from the asian market with the handle that was prone to splinters has since been replaced with a full on metal version from a proper kitchen store. HA.

on the other hand, if that contraption worked, i'd be very impressed and i would immediately post about it on Facebook (naturally).

however, if i am still in this horrible predicament tomorrow, can you let me know where the nearest asian market is in this internet forsaken neighborhood?

Kudos. But, truthfully, it does work. Ridiculously well.
