South Slope Armed Robbery - 1/17

I got this via email, and haven't been able to verify it via any article, etc. - but will post just in case it's legit:

Monday eve at about 10pm, my boyfriend took his two dogs out for a final evening

walk. On his block, 19th street btw 5th and 6th Ave, a crazy, intoxicated man

approached him with a very large gun. The man said he needed money to feed his

family and was desperate. Charles said the man was very high. He told him that

he'd just taken the dogs out for a walk and did not have his wallet or cash on

him. The perp then directed him back into his apartment, with gun pointed at

all times, and had him hand over all his cash, two bottle of booze he saw in the

closet and his cell phone. Fortunately, Charles remained calm and was able to

reason with him. He gave him what he wanted and the guy stumbled off without

anyone getting hurt.

All of it is very scary but this guy was really nuts to approach a big man with

two large dogs. (He didn't know they were cream puffs from CT!)

Anyway, I thought it was worth sharing to warn people in that part of the nabe.

The cops said that things were not getting better but worse in the area.

Thanks!

Maggie

be careful out there!

    Thanks for the post!

I wouldn't be surprised. There was a robbery at a bodega at the corner of 20th St and 5th Ave a couple weeks back. Apparently ATM's are being targeted. That coupled with the street light being out on 20th St, makes things spooky dark for a well traveled street.

atms have been very popular with the criminals, they don't have to worry like robbing a bank. easier and faster etc...
